How to Properly Clean Your Windows: Our Tried-and-True Cleaning Process

Windows are vital to your home’s beauty and comfort; they give you a wonderful view of outside, protect the inside of your home from the elements and they let in sunlight to brighten up your indoor space. Because they are so vital to a home, they see a lot of action. It’s a good idea to keep your windows clean so that they keep functioning as they should.

Window glass can get dirty pretty quickly, even sooner with little hands or pets in the home, but luckily glass cleaning isn’t that hard. Many Prairie Pella Wyoming LLC windows have easy-clean features that also make it painless to clean the exterior of your windows from the inside of your house, too. Looking for an easy, new window cleaning process? Here’s what Prairie Pella Wyoming LLC suggests:

  1. You can start by brushing off your window sill with a small broom or brush. The dirt and dust that collects on the sill and ledges will stay there for a long time otherwise, and brushing will also prevent smearing on the glass later on. Do not use the same cleaning rag that you will eventually use to clean the glass!
  2. Run your vacuum’s dusting brush attachment along the side of your window screen that faces inside. You can also use this vacuum piece to grab any leftover dirt and dust on your sills.
  3. Use a premixed vinegar-based cleaning solution, or an ammonia-free glass cleaner like Windex® or Sparkle® to clean your window’s glass. You can blend your own vinegar-based solution by mixing one-part white vinegar to 10 parts water. Apply your cleaner generously to a clean, lint-free cloth or paper towel and wipe down your glass from multiple different directions for the best clean.
  4. After the cleaning, let your windows air dry and then rinse your glass with clean water if you see streaks.

We’ve got a few more tips, too! We suggest that you clean your windows on a cloudy day because the sun will dry the cleaning solution quicker and leave streaks on your glass. Also, our Prairie Pella Wyoming LLC professionals prefer microfiber cloths since they are the least likely to leave tiny particles behind.

Take care of your gorgeous view, protection barrier and light source by keeping your windows clean throughout the year.
